ZURICH CONTENT SCHEDULE:
Different schedule this week due to lack of data for Zurich. That said, get hyped it’s Zurich Week!
Model - It’s a one-off week, so we took a different model-building approach. We sent Vincent on a mission to create a custom model for the Zurich Classic, and configured the following methodology: The tournament’s unique team format has consistently rewarded duos that blend power and precision—specifically, pairing a long, effective driver who can convert with the putter (Driver/Putter) alongside a spike iron play merchant with a respectable flatstick. ARG play is greatly diminished. Our model is built around that formula for success. Rather than scoring players in isolation, we evaluate each team holistically, emphasizing the complementary skill sets that have led to outperformance here. We prioritize Driving Distance, SG Approach, and SG Putting, while incorporating SG Total to account for consistency and all-around performance. Teams with at least one elite driver receive a scoring boost, recognizing the structural edge distance has historically provided in this format. The result is a model that values not just individual talent, but strategic team construction—and produces win probabilities that layer in SG Dog on top of the aforementioned statistical foundation. We shall see how it works.
